The short version

SubSense is local-first. It works fully offline, with no account, no ads and no tracking, and the subscriptions you add stay on your device. Cloud backup is optional: only if you choose “Sign in with Google” do we store your email and your subscription data in the cloud so it can sync across your devices. We never sell or share your data, and we never store payment cards.

1. Information we collect

Nothing, unless you turn on cloud sync. By default SubSense requires no account, and the subscription details you enter (names, prices, dates, notes) are stored only on your device and are never sent to us.

If you tap “Sign in with Google” to enable cloud backup, we then process:

• Your Google account email and user ID — used only to create and identify your account so your data syncs to the right place. We never receive your Google password.
• Your subscription data (names, prices, billing dates, notes) plus your display name and base-currency preference — stored in our cloud database (Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore) so it syncs across your signed-in devices.

Cloud data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and is isolated per user — no other user can read it. We never store payment-card data or bank details.

2. No tracking, no ads

SubSense contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or third-party tracking SDKs. We do not build a profile of you, and we cannot identify individual users beyond the account you explicitly create.

3. Network requests

SubSense makes only the minimal network requests needed to function:

• Currency exchange rates — fetched from a public rates provider (open.er-api.com) to convert amounts into your chosen currency. No personal data is sent; the app only receives public rate numbers.
• Public pricing reference data — the app may fetch a public catalog of typical service prices to help you add subscriptions. It contains no personal data.
• Google sign-in and cloud sync — only if you enable cloud backup.

These requests never include anything you entered into the app.
